LC aka Leslie Cook of Style Startup Sundays
Hello there!
Hi, I’m Leslie! I’m a Fashion & Retail Management student at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, a new intern with Style Segment and I’ll be blogging on Sundays about what you viewers should keep your eyes on. I’ll be covering everything from your clothing and shoes to your accessories and nails. Before I go into detail about what specifically I’ll be blogging about, here’s a little info about myself.
I’m beginning my final year at AiP and will graduate in June of 2012 with my Bachelor’s degree. I love writing, styling, marketing and all things fashion. I’m currently a Student Ambassador Coordinator, Vice President of AiP’s House of Fashion and Secretary of Student Council. Outside of school, I’m currently a buyer at a local resale store, Avalon Exchange.
I’ll be bringing you the latest news on Sundays, telling you what’s in and what’s out! I’ll also be keeping an eye out for your opinions. I’d love to hear what you’re interested in and what you think is the new hot trend. Feel free to comment below and until next time, check out my other sites.

Hello, all! It’s been an honor and pleasure to be a part of the Style Segment team. I’m sad to say this will be my last post as an intern. I’ll be continuing my studies as a fashion student, and I’ll still be keeping up with my regular social media pages. As I depart from Style Segment, I leave all of you with some new things to look forward to: HIGHWAY ROBBERY VINTAGE Are you interested in vintage? Want to know more about it? For my final post, I had the exciting opportunity to interview the owner of the newest...

Good Sunday morning, everyone! I hope you’re all getting pumped up for Pittsburgh Fashion Week! I got to share the experience of the runway last Thursday evening at Pittsburgh’s first ever Fashion’s Night Out event, a fashion show featuring design students from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, at Ross Park Mall. As I mentioned in a previous post, I couldn’t wait to see what my fellow students had created. My evening consisted of the following: speaking on the runway to kick off the event, helping out...

Good Sunday morning, everyone! Are you ready for today’s Style Startup? Check out my interview with Sandra Murphy, designer of RECOLLECTION, vintage style clothing. Getting to know Sandra was absolutely wonderful! Our conversation was interesting, hearing her opinions and some of her background. I found out we have things in common! I began the interview with some basic questions – what sparked her interest in vintage clothing? Her love developed while getting her degree in fashion design at fashion school in her home country, Ireland....

Hello! Are you ready for a new, edgier look? Check this out: As a student at AiP, I have the pleasure of informing all of you about the Fashion’s Night Out show at Ross Park Mall on Thursday, September 8th. I am proud, and honored to say, some of AiP’s talented Fashion Design students will be participating by creating one-of-a-kind garments for the show. Their goal is to create garments they think will represent fashion twenty-five years in the future. I look forward to this event with lots of excitement and curiosity. I’ve...

Striped Strides Ladies, I have three reasons why this look is worth wearing: The maxi skirt is fantastic for all heights, low or high waisted. Cropped tops are huge right now, and they’re awesome for scorching summer days, creating a silhouette, and are beyond comfortable. This look can easily be worn as a casual outfit, but also doubles as an edgier fashion forward style. Interested? Great! Here’s what you need to add some edge to your style. Firstly, find a great maxi skirt you can wear as a basic. This one is perfect; lightweight,...

Summer Sparkle Are you ready for your new outfit? With some simple colors and platforms, this look will have you feeling like the trendiest girl around. As a bonus, the delicate accessories will definitely boost your ability to shine. Firstly, begin your outfit with a simple top. Try to keep things light by using solid colors and little detail. I love this one-shoulder blouse and its coral hue from ModCloth! The ruffle neckline is perfect to add a little flirtatiousness to an outfit. Lengthen your legs in a classic colored pair of...

Today’s outfit: Sheery Chic For the steamy weather lately, I’ve been wearing more and more sheer and crocheted clothing. Check out this lovely dress by Free People! Lightweight, delicate and absolutely stunning. To step up the look, try these killer heels by Joe’s. (Considering I’m only about 5’4”, heels seem to have become more than a staple in my closet.) They’re available at Nordstrom and shouldn’t cause you to spend your entire life’s savings on them. Plus, they’re an amazing neutral – great even in the fall, if worn...
