Womenswear Wednesday – It’s Fashion Week in NYC! pt. 1
Fashion Week in New York went underway over the past weekend and we are catching up with all the big trends, breaking news and Street Scenes of the week. With a lot of new faces and PR coverage in New York, I would like for you to meet our 2 writers who are attending the shows and events around New York. First up is…
Just who is Caitlin Corcoran??
While in middle school, Caitlin was fascinated by fashion magazines- which encouraged her in studying fashion and aspects of fashion.
She started with Teen Vogue and Seventeen Magazine then in high school graduated to Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Marie Claire. With her obsession with the magazines, she thought about working for them. After high school, Caitlin was accepted into FIT New York and has since interned with Nicole Miller. Her most recent exposure to blogging was when she was discovered by shoptopia. Shoptopia is a social shopping network that lets you discover, shop and share. Catilin was active at the mall of robinson and shopped there so much and saw the contest for “Trendsetter”. She is super competitive, incorporated some of her own pieces and it was a good battle between her and the competitor. She won and started to model for the mall, then started blogging for the mall, and here she is at Fashion Week for StyleSegment!
Her internship at Nicole Miller was a dream come true for any fashionista! It is laid back and so nice. She wants to work for them after her internship is over. Staying connected with a large designer such as Nicole Miller helps build relationships in the industry. The vintage market is her interest, working with the movies and finding antiques.
“FIT has a great program through internships which help students get into the industry. They provide so much into the industry.”
While living in New York and not attending school, you can find her freelance modeling when ever she can. She is on Model Mayhem, is a Shoptopia blogger, twitter, facebook.
