It’s Fashion Week pt. 2
It’s Fashion Week part 2 with our second New York featured blogger, Alexis Kastafanas.
StyleSegment.com spotted Alexis during a Got Style? coverage at the Tim Gunn event in Pittsburgh, PA in 2011. We immediately fell in love with her style, looks and sweetheart smile! She loves mens street style and you can see her snapping images while on the streets of NYC. Look for her fashion week reviews and event coverage to get all the scoop on Fall 2012!
Q&A with Alexis:
SS: When did you discover Fashion?
AK: I discovered fashion at a very early age… looking back at photos of myself when I was two, three years old and I am all dolled up, diaper on and in my mother’s heels… It seems to be one of those things that was just meant for me.
SS: What drives your passion for fashion?
AK: Creativity drives my passion. I think that fashion is the ultimate form of self expression and a way to have fun with your life. Style is fun, fashion is fun, life should be fun.
SS: What inspires your personal style?
AK: My personal style is classic with a twist. A good word to explain the way I dress would be “Savvy” but I also love skulls and McQueen and like to experiment with edginess.
SS: Aspirations in the industry?
AK: I am really enjoying my internship right now at DL1961 Premium Denim… I can see myself working in a Creative Marketing Team or as a Buyer for Nordstrom in the future.
SS: Your worst fashion moment? any pics??
AK: Haha I probably burned them! My worst fashion moment was probably all of 6th grade… just the whole thing was wrong. I was still finding my style at that age.
SS:Your favorite designer and why?
AK:For men’s wear, love Gant by Michael Bastian. He knows what looks good on guys and how to get them to be fashionable without scaring them away by being too trendy. And for women’s wear, I’m pretty obsessed with DVF. I mean come on, the woman is on top of the world.
SS:Most daring fashion moment?
AK:Wearing my Louboutins outside on the street… it took me about 1 year until I would consider wearing them outside. It was worth it!
SS:Who have you met in the industry that intrigues you? and why? any quotes or advise they gave to you?
AK:When I met Tim Gunn, he said the most amazing thing to me that I will never forget. I asked him what advice he would give to someone aspiring to be in the fashion industry and he said, “Be nice. There aren’t enough nice people in this business. If you are nice, you will go far.” I think about that every single day.
