Bill Blass Spring 2012 Presentation
Bill Blass.
An american icon designer with essential elements of style, sophistication, and elegance.
The Bill Blass runway collection, with a slight edge, this Spring 2012 gave the collection a huge push forward to the forefront of iconic fashion that I feel our country needs. Designer, Jeffrey Monteiro brought the classic edge of a nautical emotion, jumpsuits, constructed blazers, maxi gowns and sportswear. Color pallet was quite Nantucket with bold hues in yellow, navy and white stripes and of course the icon’s signature “Red”. The textiles were a bit sexy chic with deep cuts, Gold button hardwear and nautical emblems were seen on most pieces of sportswear including my have to have finale walk-Derby Hat…
My favorite pieces from the collection are the more sporty pieces that I know I can wear…

Arnaud de Rosnay’s image from Vogue 1971 epitomizes the “ Timeless, Easy and Chic” spirit of Bill Blass Spring 2012.
The collection invokes a sense of the past while speaking to the future.

Thanks to my hardworking PR and Social Media Interns, Dwayne and Amelia and colleague-amazing friend Sarah Lolley for my invite to the show and also a BIG Thank You to GreatPress.com PR! I am glad to say that I got the chance to sit down and chat with a hometown Pittsburgh business man-Scott Patti, President of Bill Blass for a short while before the show started. He was so nice and we talked a bit about Pittsburgh, Fashion and of course-31st Street Studios taking over the old Mogul Minds Studio in the Strip. There is a lot of great people I get to meet in this industry and I really appreciated meeting Mr. Patti and his lovely wife the most during this past Fashion Week season.
Here is a little interview I did with Mr. Patti…
SS: When did you take over as President?
SP: January 2009
SS: With such a leading fashion history for the house of Bill Blass, how much has it changed in the years and what major effects do you see on fashion in the future?
SP: The biggest change to date would be the elimination of many licenses to cleanse any distribution problems of the past. The major effect would be Bill Blass getting a broader clientele as we grow and build a marketing campaign.
SS: Mr. Blass once said “When in doubt, wear Red” Is there a hint of red in the collection at all times?
SP: Always
SS: I see that everything is still done here in NY, is the garment center ever going to come back to its hay day?
SP: I don’t think the garment center will repeat its hay day in volume, but will establish a new hay day of innovation and quality.
SS: Will we see Bill Blass in a major retailer such as Target for a legendary classic’s collection?
SS: Perhaps
SS: How do you feel about Designers Collaborations with these retailers?
SP: I think anything that educates the public to fashion is good for our industry.
SS: Steelers or Jets/Giants?
SP: Please ….. Steelers
SS: Penguins or Rangers?
SP: Please…. Penguins
SS: Primanti’s or Carnegie Deli?
SP: Close, but Primanti’s
Thank you everyone for this was one of my favorite shows of all season including the interview with hometown Scott Patti, President of Bill Blass.
